The Africa Bureau for Legislative Empowerment (ABLE) was convened for the enhancement, proper positioning and performance of the legislature in representative democracies and constitutional development in Africa States. Our democratic experience in Africa show that only the Legislature can give necessary checks and balances, which could sustain democracy in Africa.

We contribute to the capacity development of political officials and cooperate with government at all levels, political parties, civil societies, foreign missions and the general public on good governance.

We hope to strengthen African Legislatures as well as enhance effective working relationships between the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature for the purpose of optimal performance in governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Nigeria and African continent.

ABLE also sets out to facilitate capacity development trainings, exchange visits, lobbying, election monitoring, electoral reforms, opinion polls, information gathering, research into core Africa democracies etc. all with the aim of fostering good governance.

ABLE collaborates with local and international professional consultants and technocrats to satisfy the need to engender good governance, lobbying to ensure passages of pro-people laws and measures, promote accountability and transparency, encourage effective constituency representation, protect fundamental human rights and support for the rule of law.
